The Android supports IMAP. IMAP will allow you to retrieve you emails from SmarterMail and leave the emails on the server. IMAP also allows folder support.
Follow these steps to create a SmarterMail IMAP connection for an Android.
Step 1:
- From the home screen, open the "Applications Tray", and then touch "Email".
Step 2:
- Enter your "Email address" and "Password" then select "Next".
- As an example username@your+domain.com
- Insert your password
Step 3:
- Enter an optional designation name and your’ Full Name under name if prompted, then select "Done". Your account is setup and your Inbox will be displayed. If prompted for type of account, go to Step 4.
Step 4:
- Select IMAP for the type of email account.
Step 5:
- Enter your Incoming Server Settings. Then select "Next".
- Username = as an example username@your+domain.com
- Insert your password.
- The IMAP Server is: mail.your+domain.com
Step 6:
- Enter the Outgoing Server Settings. Then select "Next".
- The SMTP Server is: mail.your+domain.com
- PORT: 587 (Alternately, port 25 can be used)
Step 7:
- Configure the desired account options, select "Next". Return to Step 3.
Congratulations! You are now ready to send and receive emails.
